Developmental MileStones
Azikel Power is a pioneer Private Power Plant Project in Bayelsa State with a size and design of 500MW and simple- and combined-cycle combustion turbines, respectively. As a private pioneer in this venture in Bayelsa State, Azikel Power has faced a number of unique challenges, yet the company has achieved landmark completion of milestones.
OUR LANDMARK COMPLETION MILESTONES INCLUDE:
- Power plant site of 80 acres procured at Gbarain, Near Yenagoa, Bayelsa.
- Plant site cleared.
- ESIA approval obtained from the Federal Ministry of Environment.
- Power evacuation studies completed and provisional approval granted by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
- Site Survey, topographic, bathymetric (Nun River), geotechnical, GIS mapping, noise and gaseous emission modeling have all been completed.
- Project Technical Consultant and Owner’s Engineer, ENERGOPROJEKT-KATOWICE SA (EPK) from Poland, has been recruited following a competitive bid process.
- Collaboration Agreement executed with GE, with a proviso for equity investment.
- Choice of technology and systems from GE.
- Land title (Certificate of Occupancy) perfected.
- Power Generation Licence obtained from Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission.
- Technical specification documents that would lead to the selection of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) finalized by EPK of Poland. Companies that responded to the Expression of Interest (EOI) for EPC have been evaluated.
- Engagement with the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria (GACN) is at advanced stage. Response to GACN due diligence documentation has been submitted.
- Engagement with SHELL Petroleum Development Company is at advanced stage.
- Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) – preliminary discussions held with Nigerian Bulk Electricity Plc. (NBET).
- Project registration initiated under Power Africa
